Behavior modification is a treatment approach that replaces undesirable behaviors with more desirable ones by using the principles of operant conditioning. Operant conditioning relies on a fairly simple premise: Actions that are followed by reinforcement will be strengthened and more likely to occur.
Using an integrated method of right or wrong outcomes, a person learns the right set of reactions for any transmitted stimulus.
The ultimate goal is to swap objectionable, problematic, or disagreeable behaviors with more positive, desirable behaviors. Behavior modification works with just about everyone and has many beneficial properties, from improving a person’s behavior to motivating yourself to work more efficiently and live your best life.
